In Erie, there are two sure signs that spring is now upon us.
The shrink wrap is being taken off the boats that have been stored outside on the bayfront all winter in their shining blue or white plastic glory, with their uncovered lines again revealed.
And the convertibles are being taken out of the garages.
Finances fresh start
As I walked up State Street on the way to our Steidl and Steinberg office, I passed a shiny old red Mazda Miata convertible parked in front of the dollar store. Nobody brings shiny red Mazda Miatas out of hiding until they are certain it is spring.
But spring also means a chance for a fresh start. Remember how gung ho you were to get something done about your debt situation at the start of the new year? This was going to be the year, and you were going to get to your finances you didn’t.
Budget test
It’s time to do something now. Let me suggest this one test. Are you able to pay all of your typical monthly expenses on time, including your revolving debt such as charge cards, without using any new credit? Do you still have enough money for the things that come up, such as car repairs, things your kids need for school, a household emergency such as a new washer, dryer, or refrigerator?
Are you making real progress on this debt? If the answer to these questions is no, then you owe it to yourself to contact Steidl & Steinberg for a meeting. It is free, convenient, and, if nothing else, you should feel better after we talk. All of us have been around for a while and we can advise you on possible solutions that might make you wonder why it took so long for you to contact. While you are stopping to smell the roses, let us see how rosy your financial picture is.
