There are lots of reasons why people call us, but the major one is they are sick and tired of getting annoying phone calls. The last thing they want to do is talk to the person on the other end of the line.
It’s because the person on the other line wants to collect on a bill, and our potential clients don’t know what to say because they don’t have the money to pay it.
There are many reasons why our clients are unable to pay that debt now, or maybe ever. Job loss. Reduction of hours. Illness. Injury. Separation. Divorce. Loss of a loved one. Unexpected car or house repairs. Helping your kid who got into trouble, and so many other reasons. It is not for lack of trying.
Almost all of our clients have been struggling for quite a long time with their bills and they have tried just about everything. They have cut back on anything resembling a luxury item as well as clothes and food.
They have tried to talk to the creditor, and the debt collectors, and attempted debt counseling and consolidation which was often unsuccessful and sometimes a disaster. They have picked up a second job and, in some cases, a third one in an effort to catch up.
It is only after many people have exhausted what seems like all possible remedies that they decide to contact us at Steidl and Steinberg. But it is the phone calls from debt collectors that probably do more than anything else to consider calling for advice.
When they sit down and meet with us, the most common reaction is “I wish I would have done this a long time ago. It would have saved me a lot of grief and heartache.”
If you are behind in your bills, and you don’t see a way that is going to change soon, maybe it’s time to call us to talk about those debt collectors. We will look at your entire financial picture and come up with a game plan, and that plan often includes things that will make those debt collectors disappear.
But it only happens if you get back on the phone to call us, or visit us at GoodByeDebt.com.
