It happened again: a person called upset because their bank account was garnished by a credit card creditor and there is no money left.
So I dared ask, “Did you know you had been sued?”
He said, “Yeah, but it was just a credit card. I didn’t think they could do this.”
Uh, yes, they can. The credit card company can sue you, and if they win (and they generally win if you don’t show up), they can obtain a judgment. With this judgment they can seize your car, motorcycle, house (in certain situations), and just about anything else you own except for your kids.
No, you can’t give any of your kids to them.
They cannot attack your paycheck, and that is where some of the confusion may be. But everything else is fair game.So if there is a lawsuit out there, call us at 800-360-9392! Or better yet, call before you get sued. Protect your assets!
